The same oak frame as the plain bed, built 6 cm taller to take four drawers, two a side, each 90 cm wide and 20 cm deep. The drawer fronts are oak veneer on birch plywood because a solid oak front of that width cups within a year; we have tried.
The drawers hold a season of bedding or most of a winter wardrobe. They need 65 cm of clear floor each side to open fully, which rules this bed out for a room where it goes against a wall; the plain frame suits that better.
