A rectangle of 20 mm steel tube with a thin board across it and a cushion tied on with four tapes. Because there is nothing below the seat, the eye reads the floor through it and a small room does not feel more crowded for having it.
The cushion is a wool and polyester mix over a firm foam; wool pills in the first few months and then settles. The cover unzips and washes cold. The frame arrives welded; there is nothing to assemble.
